'The most valuable part of paintings is wherever a riddle can be found. Where it becomes so complex that you experience it as a riddle, but one that you cannot solve. The work's creator can bring that into reality, the reality of the visual. Paintings are not life but a condensation of it. Everything is denser. On every level it is all more compact.'
